Summer 2006
LIGO Scientific Collaboration Meeting
Louisiana State University
Lod Cook Conference Center & Hotel
Face to face meetings
- (These instructions are for the analysis face-to-face meetings. For details on the Scimon training session on August 18th, to be held at LIGO Livingston, please see the camp homepage.)
- Registration: please register in advance if you haven't already choosing the "face to face" option in the registration website. Let us
know if you haven't registered in advance but plan to come.
Registration for the LSC meeting upon arrival will start in Lod Cook on
Aug 14.
- Location:
The times and locations for the face-to-face meetings of the data
analysis groups are all (except for half a day of the stochastic group)
hosted in Nicholson Hall, in the LSU campus. Directions to the LSU
campus can be found here. In this map, Lod Cook Hotel is Reference#1, Nicholson Hall is Reference #2. On this campus map, the Hotel/Conference center is buildings 648
&
649, at H25. Nicholson Hall is two buildings in one: 39 & 40, at
I19.
- Inspiral Group (Aug 11, 12): Nicholson Hall, Room 262.
- Stochastic Group (Aug 17,18): Lod Cook Anderson Conference Room (Aug 17), Nicholson Hall, Room 262 (Aug 18)
Room 262 is easiest to get to using the main entrance on Tower
Drive, taking the elevator to the 2nd floor, and walking straight out
of the elevator halfway. Room 262 is on the right, halfway along the
hallway (if you reach the end of the hallway, you'll get to the offices
of the local hosts). Room 262 is in Building 40 in the campus map.
- Burst group (Aug 12, 13): Nicholson Hall, Room 109
- Pulsar Group (Aug 12, 13): Nicholson Hall, Room 119
These two rooms are next to each other, and are easiest to get to using
the side entrance facing the Nicholson Parking lot closest to the Quad
(farthest from the street, Tower Drive). The classrooms are in Building
39 in the campus map (where you can alse see the Nicholson Hall Lot).
- Parking:
On Saturday and Sunday, you can park anywhere on campus. The closest
parking spaces are the Nicholson Hall Lot, the South Coates Lot, and
street parking on Tower Drive (surrounding Buildings 39, 40 in the campus map).
On Fridays, you will need a parking permit, which you can get
from Gabriela Gonzalez, which will allow parking in all unreserved
spaces (blue or red, not yellow, in the campus map). The closest unreserved parking spaces are street parking on Tower Drive and South Campus Drive.
- Food: we will have coffee, tea and snacks available at midmorning and midafternoon.
We will have box lunches delivered at 12:30pm. There will be a room
with some tables set up in the 4th floor, Room 435; you can also
stretch your legs and change scenery, taking your lunch to the lounge
and tables in the 2nd floor of the Student Union across the street
(east of Nicholson hall, Building 38 in the campus map), or enjoy the
fountain and live oaks' shade in the Quadrangle (on the west side of
Nicholson Hall).
- Questions? Ask Gabriela Gonzalez, or during the meeting find one of the LSU local hosts who will be helping out:
- Inspiral group: Jake Slutsky on Friday Aug 11, Andy Rodriguez on Saturday Aug 12
- Stochastic group: Shyang Wen on Friday Aug 18
- Burst Group: Myungkee Sung
- Pulsar Group: Rupal Amin on Aug 12, Jeff Kissel on Aug 13.
